About Me
Pediatric occupational therapist, play advocate, and your partner in helping your child grow.
Hi, I’m Ebony!
I’m a pediatric occupational therapist based in Hampton, Virginia. I started Skills in Bloom because I kept meeting families who had been told what their child couldn’t do, and very few who had been shown what was possible.
Occupational therapy, to me, is about the everyday moments: getting dressed without tears, holding a pencil without pain, joining a game at recess, sitting through dinner. When those moments get easier, whole families breathe easier.
How I work
- Play first. Children learn when they are having fun, so sessions look like play because they are play, with purpose behind every game.
- In your world. I see children at home and by telehealth, where the skills actually need to work, rather than in a clinic they will never visit again.
- Parents are the plan. You will always know what we are working on, why, and what to try between sessions.
- Evidence-based. Strategies come from current research and are adjusted to what your child responds to.
Who I work with
Infants, toddlers, preschoolers and school-age children with a wide range of needs, including developmental delays, sensory processing differences, autism, ADHD, handwriting difficulties, and children who simply need a little extra support to keep up.
