Fine Motor Skills

Small muscles do big jobs. Fine motor work builds the hand strength, finger dexterity and hand–eye coordination a child needs to button a coat, hold a crayon, use scissors, and keep up with classmates.

  • Grasp and pencil hold
  • Cutting with scissors
  • Buttons, zippers and snaps
  • Hand strength and endurance
  • Bilateral coordination (two hands together)
  • Play skills with small toys

Sensory & Self-Regulation

Some children feel the world louder, brighter and scratchier than others; some barely notice it. I help children recognize what their body needs and give families practical tools for calm, focus and smoother transitions.

  • Sensory processing differences
  • Big emotions and meltdowns
  • Attention and body awareness
  • Picky eating with a sensory root
  • Sleep and bedtime routines
  • Sensory diets and calming strategies

Handwriting & School Skills

Legible handwriting is a skill made of many parts: posture, grip, letter formation, spacing and stamina. I break it into pieces a child can win at, and work on the attention and organization that make school days easier.

  • Letter formation and legibility
  • Pencil pressure and grip
  • Copying from the board
  • Staying organized and on task
  • Keyboarding as an alternative
  • Classroom readiness for preschool and kindergarten

Daily Living Skills

Getting dressed, eating with utensils, brushing teeth, packing a backpack: the routines of daily life are where independence grows. We practice them step by step, at the pace your child can manage.

  • Dressing and fasteners
  • Self-feeding and utensil use
  • Toileting and hygiene routines
  • Morning and bedtime routines
  • Chores and responsibility
  • Community outings and safety

Social & Play Skills

Play is a child’s work, and it is how they learn to share, take turns, read a friend’s face and join a game. Sessions build these skills through the play your child already loves.

  • Turn-taking and sharing
  • Joining in and making friends
  • Imaginative and pretend play
  • Reading social cues
  • Frustration tolerance in games
  • Confidence in new settings

Parent Support & Education

You are with your child far more than I ever will be, so you are the most important part of the plan. I coach parents on what to try at home, explain the why behind each strategy, and help you advocate at school.

  • Home strategies that fit your family
  • Understanding your child’s evaluation
  • School meetings and IEP/504 support
  • Setting up routines and visual schedules
  • Sibling and family dynamics
  • Ongoing check-ins between sessions
